The article mentions that one of the symptoms is sometimes psoriasis, in addition to other common psoriatic arthritis symptoms such as heel pain and IBD etc. Wouldn't the correct diagnosis then be Psoriatic Spondylitis? Whats the difference when there is no evident fusion? Do treatments between the two differ?
@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. Yeah, that osteophyte wasn't in this latest MRI either. It was an xray a year ago that reported it on L3. I do have 3 bulging discs and a cyst though inside the vertebra… read more
I read that microbes in the gut from imbalance or overgrowth could make inflammation worse and that starving them with low carb or fasting sometimes helps. Anyone else try this?
That is really nice tamcolem. I didn’t get out. I heard noise late last night. Not many people shot off much this year, I think everyone is financially broke!
Just keep reading conflicting information…I know at the end of the day is specific to the individual, but what works for most?
AS is caused by inflammation from a certain bacteria that people with the HLA B27 gene for AS is sensitive to. It is almost impossible to kill the bacteria with antibiotics or the specific probiotic… read more
My Rheumatologist experiments with biologics on me to control disease progression. So far I've been on 5 to no avail. In less than 48 hours after my last injection I developed acute bronchitis and sinusitis, a listed possible side affect. Now I'm not feeling the potential benefit is worth the risk. Because biologics target specific cytokines, it makes sense that the biologic won't help if that specific cytokine is not present. Now I'm wanting to get a cytokine panel to determine which ones are… read more
@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. Maybe. Testing for cytokines definitely needs to be made available and covered by insurance. However, making more and better informed drs won't help at all if patients… read more
Good day,
My gums are very inflamed and feel raw. My cheeks feel raw as well. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, what has helped? Thank you from Maryland
Hi, thank you for the info, I take 1 Flintstones complete multivitamin daily. The chewable, my mother swore by it when she was with us, they are absorbed in your system much faster than pills.
When I have a flare-up, sleeping is about the only thing that helps with the fatigue. Sometimes eating a nutritional snack helps as well.
I have taken prednisone now for about 5 to 6 months. I feel almost normal on it with no major flares. My Dr. has tried me on Humira to replace the prednisone. I took one dose and got Covid, then had a HSV breakout, then a urinary track infection, then viral again. I couldn’t get over being sick for months. Needless to say I stopped taking Humira. Still on prednisone with no problems what so ever. Then he tried cosentyx on me. My first dose I got this migraine headache with pressure on my head… read more
Yes prednisone is definitely detrimental in the long term. Prednisone was never meant to be long term. It is used for acute only. And yes it is natural to feel so much better while taking prednisone… read more

After battling 4 years I finally made it to PsAS remission for a few glorious days. Now "Cousin C" is breathing fetid in my ear, whispering nasty messages from the past, threatening to keep me from plans already laid for special days this Spring and Summer. Because I have read so many of your struggles, I ask for wisdom this time instead of being the one to give it. Now I am the one who also can use a few new ideas for coping and keeping my body from flaring and making the situation physically… read more
