@A MySpondylitisTeam Member, @NoraAzmun: i had heard of Naltrexone before as a possible treatment for Brainfog with AS. I would love to try it. If I were taking a narcotic drug just for the fun of it, I could take Naltrexone because it acts against the narcotic drug. But I have an internal pain pump that dispenses a narcotic on a regular basis. If I took Naltrexone for brain fog, I have no idea what that would do to the effficacy of the medicine in the pump and pain control. I am hoping that a 2.5mg dose of naltrexone would not affect the results of my pump. I see the Dr about the pump in two weeks. I will ask then and see what he says, and pass along anything of importance that comes out of that!!I hope that both of you find results that are satisfying and improve your mental function!!

Hey Gang!☺️
I have tried LDN. Here is my experience: It caused a notable increase in irritability with me at 2mg. 1mg did nothing. The max dose is 4mg for this particular use with autoimmune disease. I quit trying to experiment with it because I had a run with kidney stones for a few weeks recently. The only way to survive active kidney stones is with codeine/morphine. LDN interferes with that. The dr who prescribed the LDN told me the narcotics would need to be significantly increased and still might not be affective. We decided since the LDN wasn't helping to quit trying it. I have encountered one other person on this site, from UK I'm pretty sure, who takes the full dose, 4/4.5mg and likes it.
Nora, for brain fog you might be able to find a couple of natural supplements that I take and find very helpful. Maybe you can find them at a local health/traditional medicine store. Or maybe you can order them online.
PEA - palmitoylethanolamide - brain fog in us is typically caused by brain inflammation. Afterall, inflammation is caused by cytokines that run through the circulatory system. It makes sense we would have it in our brains along with everywhere else. PEA calms inflammation, including in the brain's glial cells, and supports nerve health. Low PEA can cause depression, anxiety, and more according to a recent neurotransmitter test that I took. I just started taking this. It is a natural fatty acid molecule. Im taking it for depression, but it's reported to be good for pain too. Bonus!🤞
Bacopa - I absolutely love this one. I am sharp as a tack and my memory is like an elephant while taking this one. It is a marsh plant from traditional Indian medicine for memory, stress and anxiety. I've been taking this off and on for a couple of years. I typically take it for a couple months, then give it a break alternating with ...
Huperzine A - a natural alkaloid from Chinese club moss. It is said to prevent the breakdown of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that affects learning and memory. I dont really know if I notice much difference from this one, but I dont have side affects so I just stick with it while not taking bacopa.
In my personal experience, when im in social situations, people frequently are amazed how I can stay on point with multiple conversations at once as well as my detailed recall from past events.
I hope this helps my peeps!☺️🤯🤪
@MySpondylitisTeam users... ; I had to add something I found out related to brain fog and mood swings. I answered someone else the other day who was trying to figure out the same thing and I recommended looking at the medicines you take. When you get to be older, 65 and up, 5 or more prescription drugs can have effects on the body not listed in the contraindications, including brain fog and mood swings. I was at 10 or more and got it down to 6 regular, the others are on as needed basis. I want to get down further. I was taking a Beta Blocker. If you look at the chart below, Beta blockers are responsible for mood swings etc. So please check meds you take for contraindications with each other, etc. Hope this helps. - Drew
@A MySpondylitisTeam Member: Thank you. I will try that. Stay well!
@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. I picked up my Bacopa and Huperzine-A at a local healthfood store. I believe I recall seeing PEA in there too, but I ordered my recent supply through a health food supply store called Fullscript that gives discounts to patients of my Functional Medicine practitioner. I'm sure if you do a Google query on them you'll find plenty of sources. A note about online ordering - i never order through Amazon. Too frequently in the past I have done so, the site appears to be from a store or supplier, but the items have come from consumers who have opened the product, possibly used some, decided they didn't want and resell on Amazon under trade name. Go direct to manufacturers for online orders. Yours in better health P 😌 🙏
