Does anyone know what foods I should avoid to help keep down the inflammation? I believe I read that sugar was a culprit, but I need more information. Please and thank you!

Members shared a wide range of foods and ingredients believed to trigger inflammation, with the most commonly mentioned being sugar, high sodium, gluten, dairy, beans, and tomatoes, along with practical advice to research anti-inflammatory diets, low glycemic index options, and acid versus alkaline food lists. Several members offered personal strategies that have helped them, including switching to plant-based alternatives like almond milk and vegan cheese, drinking plenty of water when consuming higher-sodium or sugary foods to reduce bloating, and exploring specialized resources like the no-starch diet approach for ankylosing spondylitis. A recurring theme was the importance of reading labels, experimenting to identify personal trigger foods, and recognizing that inflammation and bloating can directly worsen joint and bone pain.

High sodium in condiments, sauces, and like Christina said high sugars from sweets can cause bloating especially the two together. Drink lots of water if you do enjoy the sugary treats and the Mexican or Italian foods, or soups. Just read labels, Bloating make the joints and bones hurt! But I am sure you knew that part. Take care!

Beans-Beans-Beans- they make my body freeze and when someone touches my frozen frame, I scream in pain. Not fun! You have found only hot water will actually “thaw me out!

Check out Kliebesilla or something very similar. Gut bacteria from AS caused by beans. Thank you

Yes, thank you. I have learned that sugar makes me hurt more, but did not consider salt. However, you are right. I remember pre-menopausal bloat having to stay away from anything with even a hint of salt. Makes so much sense. I will remember this going forward. Thanks again!
