Members shared their experiences with hip labrum tears and ankylosing spondylitis, with many confirming that weakened joints from autoimmune disease can make tears more likely, especially from falls or disease progression. Several members offered practical guidance, including getting comprehensive MRIs of the SI joints, hips, and pelvis, trying physical therapy to strengthen supporting muscles before considering surgery, using targeted exercises for torn labrums, and exploring steroid injections for pain management. A recurring theme was the importance of staying active despite pain, avoiding surgery unless absolutely necessary, and seeking second opinions from preservationist orthopedic surgeons who focus on joint preservation rather than immediate replacement.

@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. Sounds like sciatica or another pinched nerve. Have you tried chiropractic adjustments or physical therapy to train the muscles off the nerve? If you haven't gotten one, you might need an MRI to check for bulging disc pinching the nerve. PT can help that too if you're committed to it. Yours in better health P πŸ˜ŒπŸ™

I have a sharp burning pain in my left hip joint if I sit straight in a chair or try to bend and push into a car. No tearing, but the burning pain and weakness is new after 15 years.

But if the joints or hips are weak it can tear too.anything possible with an auto immune disease that screws ur joints hips etc it can easily tear just fall the wrong way 😒 & it could possibly tear hopefully not all depends how the disease has progressed so don't move too fast & don't fall down at all.
