If AS Is The Fusion Of Vertebra (ankylosing), How Is It That You Can Have It Without Being Able To Detect Any Fusion?
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

The article mentions that one of the symptoms is sometimes psoriasis, in addition to other common psoriatic arthritis symptoms such as heel pain and IBD etc. Wouldn't the correct diagnosis then be Psoriatic Spondylitis? Whats the difference when there is no evident fusion? Do treatments between the two differ?

Question Regarding Diagnosis
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi — I am positive for the HLA B27 gene. I am 57 years old. In 2018 and then again in June 2023 I had episodes of widespread body pain that lasted 8 weeks each time. I had a burning pain up and down my spine. I also had arthritic pain in the thumb joints in the base of my thumbs and pain on my front hip bones. I also had tendon pain in my shoulders.

I have also had 2 episodes of plantar fasciitis in the past 2 years. I currently have stubborn plantar fasciitis and am using Volteran gel… read more

Who Has The Hla-b27 Gene? Do You Have AS?
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I ask this b/c I have the gene, but my rheumatologist diagnosed me w/ spondyloarthropathy. I have lymphatic colitis, iritis (off/on for years), sacroilitis, and my right hip is bone on bone, so I am having hip replacement in May. Plus my ortho surgeon told me I have lots of arthritis in my back. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Has Anyone Developed Uveitic Macular Edema And Synechai From HLAB27 Ankylosing Spondilitis?
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Looking for some support. A brief history. I started experiencing inflammatory issues mainly in my neck around the age of 23. Took some time but we found out my father had the HLAB27 gene so was finally able to be referred to a rheumatologist around age 25 where I was diagnosed with AS. And I also have the gene. I’ve undergone many different treatments and therapies to help slow progression with Humira being the one to help the most. About a year and a half ago I began having very red eyes… read more
