Members strongly related to the question about memory recall problems, with many sharing that forgetfulness has become a daily frustration they manage through workarounds like constant note-taking, even though notes themselves are sometimes forgotten. Several members described additional cognitive struggles, including difficulty finding words quickly, declining motor skills over time, and uncertainty about whether their memory issues stem from their condition, pain itself, aging, medications, or co-occurring conditions like MS or past head injuries. A recurring theme was the emotional toll of these challenges, from embarrassment during conversations to worry about dementia, paired with the understanding that chronic pain monopolizes mental bandwidth and leaves little room for anything else.

I do but I’ve had a head injury . I think pain really makes it worse . It’s like your brain is thinking I’m concentrating on the pain I can’t do anything else . 😆

Yes, all the time, I write notes to myself; and I still forget things. Very frustrating!

Yes, It can be so embarrassing when talking to someone. I sometimes wonder if I am getting dementia or caused by the pain medication.
