Charlotte. Dolly in Ohio here. My daughter has uveitis describes the exact same symptoms. She is 52 was diagnosed about 3 yrs ago after experiencing several episodes. Er visits, urgent care was told pink eye etc. put on eye drops . Finally eye specialist referred to Rheumatologist who tested her for the HLA -B27 with diagnosis given of AS, Anklylosing spondylitis. She is the one that talked me into going to her Rheumatologist for testing.
Her condition has now stabilized. She was prescribed Imuran by her eye doc and Humira from her Rheumatologist. She has been doing very well and in fact was able to lower the dose of her Imuran. Hang in there but don’t ignore your symptoms. This can be a serious condition.

I recently started having very dry eyes, redness at times, occasional blurry vision. I see my eye doctor every 2 months. Tried Xiidra at $700 a month, no luck. Restasis is working better with additional use of Retaine MGB. And Refresh Optifresh and Systane both PF multiple times during the day. Of note, I also have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis but that has been well controlled with brand name Synthroid for years.

Yes it can most definitely. I had eye problems for over 10 years … severe pain!!! To me felt like a tooth ache behind the eye. From one eye to the other but never both at the same time… lost eye sight temporarily. Treatment consisted of steroids by mouth and steroid eye drops every hour for first day then less often for several days and what we call the red top drops. Which is to dilate the eye continuously for about a month I think it was. It would go away and the in about 3 months hit the same or the other eye…

Absolutely, my daughter has uveitis in one of her eyes. Inflammation, red eye, very painful condition. This can be serious as you can lose your vision. She Tested positive for the AS gene. As a result of her urging me, I was tested and sure enough, I too tested positive for the AS gene. My years of back pain and joint pain finally diagnosed.
