I have been diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis. I am in so much pain and can't afford the treatment medication prescribed! 😩 Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
There is also a website called www.drugs.com type in the drug. It will tell you contraindications drug vs supplements problems. Great site.
Since I am an insurance agent I will share this with you.
Www.needymeds.org. It is a website joining all the drug companies. They have to give some drugs no cost. As per FDA. The qualification is 600% under the median average income. Which is less than $60,000 a year.
You provide an AP the have online per drug. Copy of script from doctor. Copy last years income tax. And pharmacist copy of price retail of your drug.
Send it in. They do a good 6 month supply. You want it sent to you.
Merry Christmas early !
Top of the website type the name of the drug it will take you to the drug co website. With their application and rules.
Thank you Drew & JiPrek for your wisdom and kind words! I am in the learning stage of my diagnosis, still tying to process & come to terms with it all, and honestly it's pretty scary! I will definitely look into the great advice you both gave so generously. I wish you both the best!
@A MySpondylitisTeam Member: I agree with JiPrek. It may be a blessing that they haven’t approved the medicines they say you need to take. Drs and pharmacists do not take the care they should and once did in looking at the contraindications for each patient when meds are prescribed. I was on 11 or more. Turns out 5 of them were contraindicated in my condition. We stopped those. The same thing could happen to you. The companies that make the drugs are only interested in making money not curing disease, even when they know how to cure a disease, theres no money in it for them. Thats why as JiPrek says, medicines destroy immunity.
I have a pain pump because I was in extreme pain. It took a while to find something that worked so I could function. In addition to the pump, I have a whole series of things I do or take to minimize the inflammation- Turmeric, NSAID’s ( I know JiPrek says to avoid NSAID’s and hopefully soon I can cut them out but right now its helping me manage)Exercises, antiinflammation diet, no or very little sugar( be careful with artificial sweeteners they cause trouble too), biofeedback, listening to calming music, diversion, etc are all resources I use to deal with the pain.
I hope you find something that works for you. Do you have access to ChatGPT? You can ask ChatGPT a question explaining what Medicines that you were prescribed, saying that you can’t afford them, and ask ChatGPT if they could give you resources to assist in your being able to take the drugs they prescribed, and you can ask ChatGPT what would they recommend in your case, after you input a little about your diagnosis and what you have done about it!
Its worth a try if you have access to it.
If you need help let me know and I will try to walk you through it!- Drew
