Members responded to a question about persistent left elbow pain by sharing their own experiences with elbow flare-ups, with several noting that pain often mirrors itself on the opposite side of the body over time. Many members discussed treatment approaches that have provided varying degrees of relief, including cortisone injections (which helped some for up to two months), heat therapy, elbow support wraps and slings, ice, and St. John's wort oil. A recurring theme was that tendon-related elbow pain, whether from tennis elbow or inflammatory conditions like psoriatic arthritis or axial spondylitis, can take anywhere from weeks to over a year to heal and often requires rest, mindfulness about daily movements, and patience through the recovery process.

My elbows both hurt periodically. From what I've red, inflammation of any joint or tendon can occur with axial spondylitis (which is what I have). Heat always helps me.

I suddenly developed an achingly pain in my right elbow that's been lingering for about 30 days that doesn't seem to be getting better as of this moment. I haven't engaged in any different physical activities that I can attribute the onset of the constant dull pain to.

Exactly! That's the way it almost always goes. One foot, then the other, one side and then the other almost always. Mirror images. Linda

Yes Jan it is. I found that the cortisone helped for about 2 months then it wore off. It works for some people and doesn't work much for others. For some people it can last up to 6 months.
