I have anterior compression fractures at T7 and T8 causing mild kyphosis. My doctors are recommending kyphoplasty as an option to rebuild/stabilize those two vertebrae.
No, but a back brace can help you keep it protected while you develop a consistent strengthening and stretching program. Your back can be naturally curvature/alignment fixed as long as it isn't fused. I fixed my own 27 degree lumbar off right towards the back curve back to 5 degrees. It took about 3 yo 5 years with 5 days per week minimum commitment to PT routine with stretching. I've seen much worse fixed too, but it requires consistency and daily mindfulness to how you are using it.ππ

While a back brace may help with posture and reduce low back pain in ankylosing spondylitis (AS), it alone cannot correct established kyphosis. Kyphosis in AS occurs when the spine curves forward excessively (greater than 50 degrees), creating a hunched appearance. For severe kyphosis in AS, more intensive interventions may Show Full Answer
