Doctor told me not to drink caffeine or alcohol. I do get worse if drink soda. I think the fizz irritates the throat and makes spasms worse. But if I don’t drink things to excess I can drink soda here and there. But the scary part is when I feel fine and go to eat and misjudge swallowing food. I have had food get stuck and .I couldn’t hardly get it to go down. It is very scary.

Right now I have been taking Talz, but now they are changing my meds to cosentex because you can only take Talz for a year. I haven’t had as much rib pain like I was. This disease moves around and something else will cause inflammation and pain. It gets old but hoping that the new meds work even better. Thank you for answering my question. Have a great day. @HelenEmilyRegelein. If you have AS moving into your rib cage you might need to be on a biologic to slow progression because it will start causing the ribs to not expand and you’ll have trouble breathing. Then it can move into heart and lungs, It eventually becomes fatal.

I have had swallowing problems for a few years.
Tested with a video swallowing and showed Spondylitis in my cervical spine with spurs that were interfering with swallowing some food but also pressure in throat that felt like something was always stuck!
I also have severe dry mouth and throat!

I have had the swallowing problem for a few years.
I had a swallow test with a video scan of swallowing different solids and liquids...
The scan showed it was the Spondylitis spurs off my cervical vertebra was causing it!!
Very scary eating alone! I have given up a lot of foods...eat a lot of soups, applesauce, protein shakes, etc.
Good luck with whatever could be causing yours!
