Medication??
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

How would you say you feel after being on medication? I am so hopeful to have some quality of life back. Right now, I’m not functioning very well. Also, any side effects?

After I started Humira, my back hasn't felt as stiff
I'm able to stand up straighter eventhough it's still only a brief period of time. I've been on it for 2 months.

You will need to apply for Humira complete program and also apply for Copay Assistance.. if u have tried and failed enough medicine you can Try to get a Prior authorization for the medicine to be covered your Dr office and nurse will know what that means . I am a Rheumatology Nurse so I can help if needed

ANY,,,medication is no good for "some" part of the body. The only medication I usually take is, my blood presure medication and, I am trying to cut that out. But when I am hurting extremely bad, I found that tension headache and arthritis meds together, help ease the pain.

Yes, I too have to take pain meds, very low dose of opiates. My Rheumatologist wants me to start taking Humira but I don’t think Medicare with a supplement will pay enough to allow me to take it. Does anyone know?

I try a combination of many things, I'm liking Taltz so far, Humira made me feel worse, I take 3 loritab a day for pain plus Lyrica, etc. I started Lyrica 18 yrs ago, the first medicine I tried, I remember crying with relief it was so nice, then it got taken away because it wasn't approved for fibro yet. I tried neurotin (gabapentin) it didn't help, and about a year later Lyrica got approved and I've been on it since. It's very strong and can take about 2 weeks to get your body use to it even when upping your dose. I believe in doing what's best for quality of life, for me I don't want to be just sitting out lying in a bed all day because I refuse to take meds. Life is too short and AS way too long. I'm 49 right now and want to be moving and taking care of myself for another 20-25yrs. My mom has lupus since 1993 and she's been on methotrexate for over 20yrs she worked until 62 and still lives on her own in her own house and goes out everyday. I want to be like that, happy and being a part of society as t that age and if I need Taltz then I'll take it. I also lost weight, 45lbs and do meditation, counseling. It all helps. Good luck
