It causes weakness in your legs, YES. This is why morning stretches and exercise is so important! The muscles in the legs get tight due to the inflammation. Riding a bike is good for this but you also need to do the morning stretches! Please go to the Spondylitis Association of America and do the Back in Action Again stretches. There are videos to help you. Also do some form of exercise during the day to strengthen your muscles and the stretches at night. If you don't it'll only get worse!
I know that very few meds work for me. I did find out that gabapentin actually helps me. I tried to stop taking it to see if it actually helped….yeah, won’t do that again. I don’t get any side effects that are weird, just the ability to walk.
I'm already on Gabapentin and Baclofen (muscle relaxer) and am realizing a lot more that my pain is how I sleep. Try different positions, us pillows to support your body too.
I was prescribed Gabapentin once, but it makes me so sleepy that I can only take it at night, which turned out to be wonderful because now I finally sleep great! Once in a while I will still have leg spasms and cramps but, for the most part, it’s great! …just have some strange dreams!
I have weakness and spasm and gets so bad I have muscle cramps, bad at night especially
