For a longtime, I thought my bouts with shortness of breath and coughing were due to asthma. Since I also have lung cancer, it was a simple deduction that my lungs were heavily involved. Tests have shown my lungs are clear and my pulmonologist referred me to my cardiologist. Initial tests show CHF, but I still need to have more labs done and a nuclear stress test next week. I am 79 years old and have many of the ailments people acquire with age, so it’s hard to tell what’s what. Would love to… read more

From what I have read, it most certainly can. If you were here in NC, I would suggest you get referred to Duke University Hospital or one of the other famous teaching hospitals here. There are always better doctors at teaching hospitals. Do some research and talk it over with your doctor.
I wish you sunshine, peace, and love. God Bless
Eric,
Good morning.
Sending prayers and hugs.
I do not know if there is a relationship between AS and CHF. I hope your dr can answer your question for you.
I hope you are feeling well today and the weather will be great so you can go outside and enjoy it.
Take care of yourself and we will talk again soon. Stay safe. Prayers for less pain. Sending hugs!!
If your lungs are clear, then it suggests a cardiac problem.
Thanks Roberta for taking time to respond with your experience. What I’m learning is that many physical ailments that appear to be outside of the AS spectrum can indeed have an impact on our “special disease.” Doesn’t make me feel better, but makes me a little more tolerant.
Have a very nice rest of your day!

I have found that since being diagnosed four years ago I do have a cough. I have post nasal drip and that's the culprit! I'm 82 and post nasal drip seems to be quite popular with seniors! I'm A retired nurse and know that dry air can make post nasal worse. When it rains, cough isn't as bad, dry weather or when a furnace is going, cough is awful! I bought a bedroom humidifier and use it all the time when the humidity is low. Can't hurt to sleep and not cough as much.
