Does Anyone With AS Take Humaira.
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

My husband is 69. The doctor recommended he get on Humaira. His blood work showed no inflammation. Is this normal in some with AS? It appears that Humaira is for inflammation. What alternatives are some of you on?

I've been dealing with AS since my 20's. I'm now 70. The last 15 years were absolutely unbearable. I wasted 2 years with all sorts of pain meds & home remedies. Finally I listened to the Doc & started taking Remicade infusions every 8 weeks. It changed my life. There's some pain but it's under control. Ask your Doc about it.

I wish your husband the best. It's terrible when your entire world revolves around pain. I did it for too long with some permanent repercussions. Don't let that happen to your husband. Please stay strong and kind. Peace.

I take Remicade by infusion every 8 weeks. It has done wonders for about 8 years now.

My Doc started me on Remicade infusions every 8 weeks. That's been about 9 years ago. I wasted 2 years of extreme pain because I was scared of the drug. Doc said for me to get off the internet. He was just giving me pain meds, muscle relaxers, steroids & pads & shots in my neck. I would be back in his office in 6 or 7 weeks to do it again. It was only getting worse. Finally it got so bad I had to bat my boss to take me to the Doc. I couldn't hardly get out of bed. He had to about carry me into the office. I said Doc if I die, I die. When can we start the infusions. He said tomorrow AM. He got me through the rest of the day. Best decision I ever made. Except for marrying my wife 42 years ago. Didn't mean to ramble. Hope everything is OK.

Hello James, I had a feeling that your wife's issues were taking on more of your time and attention. I will continue praying for both of you as being a caregiver for someone you love so much can be very hard.
I am so happy to read that the Remicade is working for you. So far the Humaira is doing a pretty good job with Tom. He's been on it now for nearly 4 months. As he gets close to taking the next shot he does become stiffer and more achy, and fatigued.
This verse gives us both hope in this physical battle: "...therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day."
Continue being strong and hopeful,
JW (Jane)
