I had a discectomy and laminectomy at L5/S1 in 1995, that relieved almost 50% of the numbness I had all below the waist, but, the pain has worsened gradually ever since. I recently got my medical notes and was surprised to learn that all the specialists I have seen have said that the pain won't ever be relieved and will worsen...joy!
They won't touch my neck!
I was also worse after back and neck surgery. I always tell people don't even think about surgery unless NO other choice!
I have intermittent pain but it’s rare if I don’t have any pain. I’ve just come to accept the pain. Being active helps a lot. Right now I’m on an exercise bike at the Y. 40 min has gone by! I like to read and listen to music when I exercise. Best wishes to everyone!
Iam in pain 24/7.The only relieve I get after I take the Norco. At least for awhile.Injections are not helping much.I wish I never had this surgeries.
I hope it works out for you, I had a cervical fusion, disctomectomy (sp) 4-6, I am 10 times worse now than I was before, I had been having more and more pain so my pain management doc did a ct scan, and stays on my neck, now 3 and 7 are deteriorating, as well as my neck is out of alignment, I have pain 24/7 now, I pray your surgery goes so much better and helps more than mine did, good luck!
