Has anyone had spinal fusion and if so what was your experience. The scheduled me for surgery in August.
Hello, again. Yes, to a degree it helped. I don't have a lot of mobility anymore, but I can hold my head up and not feel like it will crumble at any moment. The hardest part is getting used to a lack… read more
I’m scheduled for low back surgery next week and I’m so scared. Will it make a difference with the spondylitis? I have arthritis in my spine and the lower spine has gotten worse. The surgeon said that my lower spine ( the holes beside it and L9
was closed ; I’m sorry that I don’t know what they are called!) He said he can help with the pain but not take it completely away. Has anyone had this experience or can tell me what my odds are for surgery for someone with AS?

Does anyone else have spinal stenosis and resulting leg numbness/pain/weakness when walking? I’ve had stenosis affecting my walking to some degree since I was 26. I keep hearing I’m “too young,” so I’m just curious if others on here experience it as well.

I agree with Linda481. Stay away from fusions unless it's the only option available and absolutely has to be done. God bless & remember to smile often...

I have AsL, PSA, PS, OP, AO AS, RA.
I have had neck surgery due to the loss of use of both arms. The spinal column collapsed onto the nerve bundle.
Then I have a 5 inch rod in my lower spine. The disc's collapsed onto each other and when they opened me up they found masses on each side of the spine... Recoved from this....
Now everything in between hurts on the spinal column . Is there pain.absoloutelty but pain meds take the edge off and allow for some function at least.
