Several supplements have shown promise for helping manage spondylitis symptoms. Here's a quick rundown:

@A MySpondylitisTeam Member: Ray, I can’t say definitely that THC has been helpful. I can say that I have tried it and it appears to be helpful. I have tried it to add to and compliment the other things I do to help with pain, and the other effects of having AS. Its not regular that I use it, but when i do it seems to help at least to help take some of the edge off the pain so I can sleep. Use it in conjunction with everything else you use.
Supplements are a different matter. depending upon what you need them for. I found that medicines I wss prescribed, I had to cut out because of negative interactions with other things I was prescribed. In order, to do better, supplements I had to look at like Turmeric, Beet Root etc were necessary to help reduce inflammation etc. in certain cases it is necessary to increase my dose of certain vitamins depending upon what they for. - Drew
I’ve been dealing with AS for 60 years and to the best of my knowledge, I’ve tried everything available. Today, it’s Duloxetene (off label use) and the generic equivalent to Tylenol arthritis. The Duloxetene disrupts pain pathways but according to my Dr. it only works in about 50% of patients. I’m one of the lucky ones. The improvement started within days of starting on the med when I realized I was putting on my socks standing up instead of sitting on the edge of the bed. The improvements continued from there. I would say that the pain has been reduced by 50%-70%. Good luck!
Thanks
@A MySpondylitisTeam Member, Hi Jan, I use Duloxetine as well. Its ordinarily for depression but works in pain control. I have a pain pump that doesn’t eliminate my pain, it reduces it substantially. Duloxetine helps as one of the many things I do to augment my pain control- which is very necessary. Check meds you are taking. Sometimes Duloxetine interacts with other drugs you may be taking so to render results poorly. I checked 11 meds I was taking, found 5 that should never have been prescribed for me because of the interactions etc. Hope you find good results for you. To your better health- Drew
