I wouldn't have my fingernails tested thinking maybe it was fungus from previously used acrylic nails or press on nails and the immediate test the weekly test and then the four week culture test all came back negative for any type of fungus. When my fingernails get wet, or what I have left of them, are white and mushy. I know it sounds gross but I'm at my Wit's End I don't know what else to do everyone just keeps telling me it's my psoriasis oh it's your as but no we can give me a definite… read more
@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. Yeah...you can zoom in and see how the middle finger especially wants to split at the nail tip. I started noticing a difference when I started taking Viactiv calcium with D3 chews twice a day. Then after I had a manicure for a special occasion they fell apart again, right to the quick. Now i take that supplements 3 times a day. We just need more help with nutrition since our food sources are so depleted in them, even in, especiallyin, CA unfortunately.
Without nails our fingertips take a terrible beating too, no protection. It took 3 months to get mine back to this. If I had been doing salon manicures regularly it would likely take a year at least. The nail beds and skin absorb all those toxins the salons use. That is what keeps your psoriasis in flare, nail psoriasis is a thing, thats what you describe. Nails, skin, and hair prone to psoriasis hate heat and chewms, hair colors, nail colors, all of it will keep the inflammation going strong continuing the growing destruction. Im sorry. It does suck. You're such a pretty lady too. You should be allowed to doll it up to the max whenever you want.😤 I hate that for you🤬. The good news is that you are a natural beauty, i see that clearly even with the (very nicely done) eye shadow. No, im not weird, just know beauty when i see it and not afraid to call it. Heavy sigh, at least you'll save a load of money on supplies and salons. Set it aside and take a super cool vacation to an exotic spot when all that nasty inflammation fades and you feel like living again. Always a silver lining my friend. Yours in better health P 😌 🙏
This is about as good as I can get mine...
@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. Hey Sharron. I feel your frustration for sure. Psoriatic Spondylitis. Yep, unfortunately, no can do on the manicures😭. The inflammation creates uneven nail beds that create micro ridges the length of the nails from roots to tips. Manicures, gels, regular non gel polish, dips, nothing holds without at minimum, fine grit buffing. This drastically weakens our already weakened nails causing vertical splits and horizontal peeling. Ugh! We can't even feel better with a measley manicure! I frigging hate it! Sorry my friend, if you pop over to mypsoriasteam.com you will see many lamentations of the same. Just gotta go au naturale my friend. High protein and wide plant variety diet with extra calcium and D3 supplements will help them eventually grow out and get reasonably healthy so long as you stay true to clean non ultraprocessed eating, clean water hydration, aboid alcohol. Positively no smoking. For chores wear full finger tip gloves. Even doing yardwork i wear tight fit copper fit gloves under my heavy leather gardening gloves. Double gloved to prevent seep through of water or dirt. It will take about 6 months to grow healthy nails again, but they will always suffer if you go back to the chemicals of manicures. Gotta let that indulgence go im afraid. 😕Sorry I can't give you better news. Ive heard there are natural solutions, but i doubt it's worth the expense or bother. Just let them be natural and keep them clean and hydrated. Yours in better health P 😌 🙏
