@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. Most Rheumatologists only prescribed medications that are loaded with side affects as bad as, if not worse than, the disease and are largely ineffective. Stopping the inflammation is like removing the shield from a knight on the battlefield. It is your body's only defense against pathogens attacking you and the only way repairs to damaged tissue can be made. What you really want is a dr/practitioner who will uncover what is actually CAUSING the inflammation in the first place. Typically there are multiple causes when you have inflammation widespread to the point of actually getting diagnosed. Functional medicine practitioners are educated and experienced with the deeper level of tests necessary to uncover the culprits to your disease. Rheumatologist dont do this unless they are Functional medicine certified Rheumatologists like Dr Micah Yu. Look him up online. He is a wealth of sensible information and direction and has many free resources. Most Rheumatologists are just kickback pill pushers getting as many prescriptions filled as they can and do very little, if anything, to actually cure you. Yours in better health P ๐Ÿ˜Œ ๐Ÿ™

You may also benefit from seeing other specialists depending on your specific symptoms:

- Physical and occupational therapists for improving mobility and daily function
- Ophthalmologists if you experience eye inflammation (uveitis)
- Mental health professionals for emotional support
- Gastroenterologists if you have digestive issues related to spondylitis
- Orthopedic surgeons if you need surgery for severe joint or bone problems

Before making an appointment, contact your insurance company to find out which providers are covered in your network. It's important to find a doctor who will listen to you and work with you to set and reach your treatment goals.
