@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. It is not the diagnosis that matters Scott, but the CAUSE(S) of the wayward inmune system that is important. And a Rheumatologist is not likely to order the necessary tests to discover all the underlying causes because those tests are not part of the insurance companies controlled authorized tests for reimbursement. Additionally, very few "Specialists", including Rheumatologists, ever take a single class in the underlying development of the cause(s). You can read my wall under the "timeline" tab for more specifics and ideas on the right direction. I'm wondering why youve been bed bound for 40 years. That's pretty extreme. 😒

Hi Vera, I am just curious about how long did it take to be fully diagnosed with both/all the different diseases? Because I’ve had the beginning pain and issues with spondylitis at 13 years old and now I’m 53 and started the diagnosis process 19+ years ago, was diagnosed with AS, then they said it can’t be because it doesn’t show in blood work and no sacroilitis on X-ray, but it was there with a specific MRI 17 years earlier with my first rheumatologist that retired after 60+ years of diagnosing patients!and now I’m bedridden and still trying to get the “doctors” to acknowledge that I’m right! Lol
Plus my mother has Rheumatoid arthritis that doesn’t show in blood work,and my father had Ankylosing Spondylitis with the full spine, hip, shoulder fusion by the time he passed!
