Eugene, OR

Meningitis in 2002, ICU, 10 days hospital stay. Now I have AS, could there be a connection between Meningitis and AS?

@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. You can get tested for environmental toxins as well as dormant past diseases, all of which and more are autoimmune catalysts.

I can trace my spondylitis symptoms back to having meningitis as well. It seems it may be the environmental trigger that causes the disease.

Absolutely. Illness is often the catalyst. Mine came from strep and, possibly, covid. Strep caused psoriasis. Psoriatic Spondylitis axial peripheral bilateral diagnosed after covid nearly killed me.

I don’t know the answer, but I also had meningitis when I was young and now have AS. Bad coincidence?
