You need to draw the blood for a basic inflammatory marker panel two days after the flare begins. If you can’t get the panel through an appointment in two days which seldom happens, go to the ER. Blood and urine tests frequently ordered by Rheumatologists, such as "Calcium."

Love this topic and your answer! The sedimentation rate (sed) is a key factor for AS inflammation blood tests. The others are equally important. The calcium rate (another test) fluctuations will be greater for those experiencing osteoporosis with AS and should be monitored.

Your plan of action is spot on. I learned the hard way over years. This plan of action should be a part of every SpA patient. Thank you, @A MySpondylitisTeam Member, for casting a light (lux), on this significant concern.

@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. Thanks Kim! I wish there was a way I could make a bunch of money researching, looking this stuff up, educating and sharing. I’m beginning to sound like an encyclopedia of medical terms and bodily biological cellular processes sometimes. But if I don’t I get to see a nurse practitioner or doctor’s back for 20 minutes while they punch things into a computer and then they are gone.
