Dows anyone using coesentryx still have alot of pain? Is there a better biologic without scary side effects? Are the biologics just to alow progression and leave u at the current pain level forever ?

Hi, I'm currently taking Cosentyx in addition to methotrexate. It has helped a little but not much. I hope you find something that helps. That's the scary/frustrating part of this whole thing...the different medications and seeing what works. Stay well.

After being on remicade for 6 years i started to develop a very rare side effect of medication induced psoriasis the last couple months but for 6 years pain wise it was amazing, i rarely ever had flares and it kept my pain and inflammation at bay for the most part with no issue or any other side effects. I got on cosentyx after remicade and it was a mess, after not being sick for over 5 years not even a cold i had infection after infection for the 2 months i was on it. Strep, upper respiratory, ear etc. it was horrible. I got off it and everything cleared up and my rheumatologist even contacted someone at ucsf epidemiology and they said this is the wrong type of biologic for AS, it attacks the wrong protein or something. If you can get on it i cant recommend remicade enough, im now on simponi which is just okay nothing great. As for pain they should decrease your pain somewhat by controlling the inflammation but they are mainly used to slow progression and prevent as much joint damage as possible. Hopefully this helps and ill be praying you get relief!

I’ve had good luck with Taltz after my insurance stopped covering Cosentyx.

I’ve been ov 9 months now - it helps a lot.

I’m also on methotrexate 25MG which I don’t like - but the side effects are minimal for me.
