I was recently diagnosed with AS. I drastically changed my diet and eating habits to detoxify and rid my body of inflammation. I rid my diet of gluten, dairy, coffee (just herbal & green teas) , no alcohol, no fast food, no processed foods, no refined sugar,or sweetners of any kind, except for what naturally occurs in fruit, Also, no pork, no corn or corn by-products/corn oil. Also, no food thickeners, i.e. gellen gum or carrageenan. I choose to eat whole organic foods, low-sodium and increased veggies and water. I am taking high quality vitamins and minerals.
I also do not consume any see oils, i.e. safflower.
I started my new eating plan on March 27th, 2023.Making these changes has improved my health tremendously. I've lost 25 lbs to date, which needs to happen, while I am obese.
My head feels clearer, I feel less toxic, my pain has decreased some. My brain fog seems gone and depression has lifted/ decreased.
I now use an app on my cell ph called Yuka to scan my food before purchasing.
I made these changes drastically while I want to live healthier for God and my family. I was so sick and in pain I just couldn' t go on living in that painful
Toxic, inflamed state. I also move more, spend time in gratitude, meditation and prayer/ spiritual readings. I reduced my TV & negative news. All these changes have drastically improved my overall health, lowered pain levels and improved my attitude and general outlook on life.
I have tested some of the above named foods to see how I feel. So far, I'm sticking with my new eating plan!
I wish for you health and fortitude to make some changes in eating and lifestyle.
Wishing you well,
Diana

Yes turmeric500 mg twice daily Boswell 600mg daily and apple cider vinegar with the mother 1 tablespoons to an 8 oz glass of water should help.

Thank you so much for this information and encouragement!
I heard about the microbiome and how leaky Gut will affect our symptoms! Your experience really helped.

I wish the best for all.

Vete,
Sorry you are in this boat. with Nr-axSpa. I'm no expert and have had this condition about two years. I've made some changes in diet and taking some supplements/vitamins that seem to help me, but as doctors frequently point out we all react differently. Diet wise eating fish like salmon and tuna, vegetables including broccoli, bell peppers, cauliflower, carrots, nuts walnuts and almonds and fresh fruits appear to help me. Also taking turmeric and fish oil along with Citracal. Basically I read some articles on foods that help reduce inflammation and ate more of them to see if it helped. So far so good. My rheumatologist had me on Cosentyx which was working after methotrexate and Humira did nothing. I've stopped the Cosentyx for over two months and most days need nothing, and only Tylenol if some discomfort. I'll speak to my doctor about all this at my next appointment and see how atypical my situation is since there isn't a lot out there on remission. Through all of this I continue to remain active walking our dogs each day, stretching and some strength work. Being active helps if not over done. What I've done probably isn't a good model for most folks but I really dislike the limited information of long term effects of the medications used for treatment. Also blown away by the costs of the medications and how Co-Pay cards for them go away when you start medicare. Best wishes. Tom
