Does Anyone Go For Sulfasalazine Treatment Instead Of Biological Treatments? Does It Work For Stopping The Pain And Stiffness?
Yes. At first I had pain but it was very tolerable. Now, over time, it doesn't seem to be quite as effective anymore. I am about to go on CIMZIA with it. I am hoping for a good outcome, with more effective pain and swelling control. Sulfasalazine seemed to work pretty good at first, but over time it was less effective and even with dose increases, I just had to try another form of treatment. I hope the best for you, with whatever you choose.
Sulfa didn't do much for me. Methotrexate much stronger though. I am on my back from that one.
Which one please biological or sulfa.? @A MySpondylitisTeam Member
I have been on 2 grams of Sulfasalazine every day for more than 30 years. It really is a DMARD! Had maybe 10-12 years where I did not even think about AS. Eventually came back, mean, and I am working through the list of MABs (mono-clonal antibodies).
Yes that was my first treatment. 20 years ago. It never really helped me much. I am on methotrexate now once a week.
