Good Morning Everyone. I Am In So Much Pain. Medicine Is Not Helping. What Does Everyone Take Or Do That Helps?
My doctors will not prescribe pain medication, only gabapentin and acetaminophen. Doesn't really work for me as I started bed wetting..
. Primary and rheumatologist have mentioned Marijuana. Here in Southern California- I picked up the thc - something called gorilla glue. Pretty flowers and really brought a lot of relief as I wake up with less stiffness. Just get the munchies as side effect. Luckily too my wife is Chinese and does massage. In China she did acupuncture. Massage helped more than acupuncture.. good luck.. as futures AS progresses
I have hydrocodone for pain as needed my primary doctor is good about treating my pain and I have been seeing him for over 25 years. I feel for those who don’t have that trusting relationship with their doctor when we are in such pain that nothing works. I also take a THC/CBD gummy to sleep at night. I use Lidocaine rub when a specific area is bad like my neck and shoulders. I work FT and sitting over the computer long periods of time can really be a problem. I don’t feel the Otezla and Cosytyx is helping much or I wouldn’t need pain medication however my rheumatologist doesn’t want to change the medication because she thinks I am much better and I am from the beginning very much improved but I want to be free of pain and unfortunately I don’t think that’s an option. Take care and I wish you the best with dealing with the pain. Acupuncture also worked on some areas.
@A MySpondylitisTeam Member All great options from @A MySpondylitisTeam Member! Remember that nothing will take away the pain completely. I believe that’s how people end up abusing their meds. They believe that more will relieve more pain. I’ve been in pain management for 13 yrs and like @A MySpondylitisTeam Member, I have pretty good relationship with my pain dr but his PA rocks! I do recommend pain management if you haven’t tried it and you can follow the prescribed dosage/frequency. It has helped me live a more quality of life, staying out of bed as much as possible but it’s not bullet proof by any means. With that said, I still try everything natural outside of 2 synthetic medications for pain and nerve pain.
Does heat or ice give you any relief? Remember that we will take even 5% relief. Every little bit helps. What about a hot bath with Epsom salts or magnesium flakes maybe with some essential oils in there ? I’ve created a pain roller with essential oils that gives me temporary relief but that may be just enough to get me to sleep. Every little bit helps.
If you’re able to afford a massages then I highly recommend a regimen that your body will look for. I can only afford it since my dear friend does it as a ministry. 🙏🏾.
I also do stretches in the shower. Water is a must for me to stretch otherwise it’s too painful.
You may want to try CBD if you haven’t already. Cannabis may be an option for you ?
I do hope you find some relief. Don’t stop trying different things. I just started myofascial “massage” or release that’s been helpful with pain and stretching my body out but the results will take awhile so I bumped my session up to weekly. I’m about to try oxygen therapy because I like the reviews and it makes sense with what I’ve learned about fascia. Look it up 🙌🏾
We must keep fighting and pushing forward - I’m talking to myself. It gets hard. I just got diagnosed with kyphosis and scoliosis thanks to AS. I’m fighting literally to stand up straight and not allow this disease to push me over. 💪🏽. I’m praying for the Lord to be my Strength and straighten my spine, sending me to people that can help me. 🙏🏾. I pray you find some tools that give relief. 🙏🏾
i get in a swimming pool, float and try and relax as much as possible. Have had my nerves burned twice and trigger point injections no longer work. Add allergies to over half of the pain meds available and i just cope.
I take methadone but it dose not stop the pain nothing has so far
