Am trying to get myself back in the habit of doing some aquatic therapy this winter. Cartersville GA, which is near me, has a really nice senior aquatic center and the silver sneakers part of my insurance pays the membership. So..no excuses. Just do it!! Wish I had a pool buddy. We could push each other to go .lol
Am afraid if I don`t do this I may not be mobile by spring. And I love the pool and lake. So, got to do it.
I had a good way of controlling my Spondlitus was I mind no bodyelse matters. What that means is what everybody say to u do what u want within reason and don't let it let it beat you.I got told by a doctor I be in a wheelchair in 2year that was when I was 32 now I'm still working at nearly 69 so you can control it yourself it's not what doctor tells you it's your mindset
Beach days, continue to volunteer and try to enjoy every day, good or bad.
Getting my independence back
Hi Mamaw, Your reply to another hero was so on spot. I find my doctors ask "so how are you managing"? It's such a general question I was not sure what they wanted to know. I'm at the end of my career due to this, 28 years as a CNA and RMA. Not retirement age. I'm unable to do it, the lifting, turning, and bathing, but my heart has never stopped wanting to assist. Now I am working PRN in a hospital but the wage is so low. I still have patient responsibilities which I take seriously. I could work at fast food, no. Long hours, my fatigue is overriding my life balance. I have good "moments". I'm so thankful I do and feel for all who do not. I find myself pacing my life with the steps to get through a day. I work and head to the ER entry at 6:45 AM 12-hour shift, and depending on how pain and stiffness dictate I leave at 3:30 AM to walk that far. I understand it takes time but many here had RA like me years before a diagnosis that was credible happened. I support myself, live alone, and have no assistance, but I do have a dog I love. He's my "little". I thank you for letting me just vent, talk, and share. Thanks again for doing the same. your insight is valuable.
