Hi Everyone. Do Any Of You Suffer With Nerve Pain?

My right leg especially is an issue with nerve pain. I took med for a while but it just took the edge off the pain for a short time. If you do have nerve issues due to Spondylitis what, if anything helps?

Members shared their experiences with nerve pain related to spondylitis, with many describing pain in their legs and feet as a significant challenge. Several members offered practical strategies that have provided temporary relief, including hot baths and heating pads for comfort, ice massage and ice packs for acute pain, electric blankets on timers to ease morning stiffness, and regular leg massage to manage symptoms throughout the day. A recurring theme was that while these approaches offer short-term comfort rather than permanent solutions, the community found solidarity in sharing what works for them and offering encouragement to keep trying different methods.

My first symptom was actually nerve pain in my arms. The pain was so bad, i had no idea what was goin on with my body. After 3 days of severe arm pain and then my hands had swelled so big i thought they would burst, i went to the ER. The doc put me on IV steriods and it seemed to help right away. He recognized my symptoms as being autoimmune and referred me to a primary care physician. Ended up getting a carpal tunnel release surgery. Then the hip pain began. I knew it was more than carpal tunnel. I had never had carpal tunnel symptoms before that. It hit me like a mac truck.
Im now diagnosed with AS, since august in 2021. My rhuemotologist explained to me how the inflammation caused by my AS, had been pinching the nerve in my wrists. Such an odd first symptom, i think anyway. Ive not heard anything about others who have experienced the same caused by AS.

I do and fing ice for pain and find ice massage better and more tolerable than ice packs. Heat for movement and mobility issues. Sauna s seem to help maintain internal warmth and decreased bone pain longer that heating pads.
I also have begun turning on my electric blanket set on an automatic timer to start about 1/2 before I wake alleviating some of the morning stiffness and frustrating starts to my days
