If anyone has received advice from their doctor on the covid vaccine, would you be willing to share? Also, is the advice with or without biologics use?
I had my Remicade infusion yesterday. I have them every 8 weeks. I asked the Doctor about me taking the Covid vaccine due to my immune system being weakened by the infusion. He told me to make sure I take it within the last 2 weeks before my infusion. He said that's when the immune system is getting stronger before it gets knocked down again. Hope that helps a bit. Keep asking though.
Well I got my 2 appts for my 2 Civic vaccines. They are a ways away. Late April & early May. Hope they work. Now I have to wait for the Rheumatologist to juggle my infusion schedule around the injections. I think it should work out pretty well.
Doc told me yesterday to go ahead & make both appointments & then call the infusion team with the dates. They will then make the necessary changes to the infusion dates. I have a feeling the 8 week schedule will have to be tweaked. I may have to go a little longer than 8 weeks. I've gone 9 before but, I could feel changes starting up. I hope it doesn't go much further than 9 weeks.
My rheumatologist advised m to take it.
I have Remicade infusions every 8 weeks for almost 10 years now. At first my rheumatologist said I couldn't have a vaccine injection any closer then 6 weeks before or after an infusion. That was a nightmare trying to make appointments for everything. Then about 3 weeks ago he told me the data had changed & I could do both no closer than 2 or 3 days. Heckuva change. I take my 2nd Moderna shot next Wednesday. This is a week before my original 1st shot. It took me 3 days to get there new appts. No adverse reactions at all. Hope this helps. Stay strong & kind. Peace.
