I have cervical apondylosis, anyone know of any good medication?

I have sleepless nights as I cannot bear my head touching the pillow because of the pressure/pulsating in me head, I am taking amitriptyline which only helps a little.

So sorry, it's the worst. I agree with Susan, you need a referral to a Rheumatologist and then possible a pain MD. I have cervical everything along with a failed fusion. For 6 months I had to sleep in a recliner do to the pain and pressure. You might be putting pressure on a bone spur. I am only able to sleep in a bed if I lay on my left side. The pillow that works best for me is the buckwheat hulls pillow. The best muscle relaxer I've found is Zanaflex (tizanidine). I also use e-stem. Physical Therapy that includes myofascial release and cranio sacral techniques help a lot. I have a damaged spinal nerve root and a tarlov cyst at C-7 and epidurals are the only thing to help that. Dragontree (online) sells the best pain patches. I've taken amitriptyline but sounds like you need more than that. Its also great for weigh gain :( The lidocaine pain patches OTC may help some but put them right over the spine.
I feel your pain & wish you the best. You've got to be your own advocate, so get back to the MD that prescribed the amitriptyline and tell them it's not cutting it. A wise MD told me once that you should not have pain that keeps you from sleeping.

Do you have a Rhemutologist. They can offer you so many more meds to help. Your PCP will have to do a pre authorization unless you HAVE Medicare as primary insurance

I asked a doctor that I've known for over 30 years and trust about amitryptiline, he said in low doses its useless and in high doses its dangerous, and I think that's the most honest opinion I'm ever going to get from a doctor.
