Members responded to the question about swollen, burning joints and breathing difficulties by sharing that many experience similar symptoms, with several describing joint pain so severe it affects daily function and sleep. Several members offered insights into potential causes, including gout (which can affect all joints, not just feet), ankylosing spondylitis (where spine stiffness can create chest pressure and shortness of breath), and overlapping conditions like COPD and asthma that complicate breathing challenges. A recurring theme was seeking medical answers through rheumatologists, upcoming tests like breathing evaluations, and hopeful anticipation of treatments such as infusions and IVIG therapy to bring relief.

Have you been tested for Gout? I found out that is my main joint problems, I thought gout only affected the feet, but it's all joints!

Yes. It was explained to me by my rheumatology doc the as the spine is anklosing,
It can feel like chest pressure or shortness of breath due to the spine being less flexible. It helped me not be so fear full of the sensations.

I didn't know that problems with the spine could affect the breathing, I have asthma and COPD, I also sometimes get pain around my ribs, like a crushing feeling as if you have been hugged too tightly. So I can see why it might affect your breathing.
