I have wonderful results from RFA. My Dr. states that if it relieves 50% of your pain it is worth repeating. The relief lasts up to 12 months. The nerves grow back so will need to be treated. Always remember to ice the area when you come home. Sometimes I get immediate relief. Never takes more than a couple of days to notice improvement. My own treatments have relieved 70% of the pain.

I have had several both cervical and lumbar with mixed results. I didnt get close to 50% relief from any of them and the small amount of relief I did get didnt last more than a couple of months.

@A MySpondylitisTeam Member that stands for radio frequency ablation. The doctor sticks a needle in, using a local anesthetic. She guides the needle under fluoroscopy to a place where pain is frequent and fries the nerve cluster. This gives you about 50% relief of the pain from that area. It lasts up to 12 months and the nerves grow back. It can be repeated. I have these on each side of my neck and each hip. I take Xanax just before the procedure. You need a driver to take you home. You cannot drive for 24hrs. I will have these as long as I am alive. It helps me a great deal.
