Guess this is very individualized. But wanted to share this link as they make videos of actual surgeries on cadavers and can watch on YouTube. I get their emails so I can keep up with the latest technologies and best surgeons in the nation. Seattlesciencefoundation.org. They cover many surgeries, treatments and not just spine. Some surgeries are rather graphic and barbaric looking so spoiler alert. Especially rods and cages, screws and such.
No one mentioned stem cell therapy in lieu of surgery. That is now an option covered by most insurers and has a higher pain relief success rate. Its not permanent, and you do need to have a healthy… read more
I am STRAPPED big time currently $$ wise. We are also rolling into winter so very limited on fresh fruits & veggies... I LOVE Salmon but it is just EXPENSIVE. I really struggle with GI flares... I tend to ignore the pain and keep going so my body uses GI FLARES to MAKE me stop... I just can't always stop as I still try to transition after a diagnosis so recent but after decades of having AS symptoms. I know I need to focus on diet and less "processed" food but I'm a Single Mom, Home owner… read more
What is a flashfood program? I’ve never heard that before?
Just keep reading conflicting information…I know at the end of the day is specific to the individual, but what works for most?
AS is caused by inflammation from a certain bacteria that people with the HLA B27 gene for AS is sensitive to. It is almost impossible to kill the bacteria with antibiotics or the specific probiotic… read more
I'm new on here and I haven't seen anything about balance problems. Is this just me or does anyone else have these problems. I just can't always walk a straight line. When I walk down the hallway in my house I sometimes almost bounce from wall to the opposite wall.
I have had balance problems. They come and go but I've only fallen twice and luckily onto a soft area. I no longer walk gracefully, clumsy and off step. It does seem to be one of the gifts from… read more
Has anyone tried Lidocaine shots into the trigger points in muscles in the back? I had my first round and felt much better but it only lasted about 3 weeks.
I've had nerve ablation- xray guided, nerve prednisone injections and just injections of prednisone and anti inflamatories. The ONLY THING THAT WORKED are the shots with anti inflammatory and prednis… read more
I gained a lot and struggled so presently ordering 4 quarts of Chinese mostly veggie based stir fry per week and dividing it into 1 cup portions and freezing it in zip lock bags. I eat it 2x a day with 1/4 C. Steamed white rice. I add in prepared small amount of lean meat, an egg, or seafood because after dividing it into portions there isn’t enough meat left in it. Then for evening just have a serving of meat for about 1,400 calories for the day. So I feel satiated and lost weight. I had… read more

I started having some numbness and tingling in my right shoulder, down the arm and into the hand. This is 2nd time in a week it has happened. I can still move it, still feel like normal, no pain, no other symptoms (other than panic/anxiety thinking it might be a stroke) I mentioned it to my rheumatologist when i saw her last week and she said its probably a nerve as the other time happened when i was driving for a couple of hours..
Has something like this happened to anyone else?

Does anyone else have spinal stenosis and resulting leg numbness/pain/weakness when walking? I’ve had stenosis affecting my walking to some degree since I was 26. I keep hearing I’m “too young,” so I’m just curious if others on here experience it as well.
Spinal stenosis is a pain. Pun intended. It's a different type of pain especially when it takes your legs out suddenly. It lingers around. I find a tumeric and collagen smoothie helps take the edge… read more
