@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. A solid sleep routine and high protein high quantity produce diet help significantly, as does getting toxins and remnants of old pathogens out of the body. Sometimes though that fatigue beast just can't be beat. As long as those times are not the daily normal, it's best just to pay attention to the body's cues and relax. It is what it is. Yours in better health P 😌 🙏
I was talking to my mom a couple of days ago about my Great Grandmother and diagnoses. Back then they knew even less than they do now. Pernicious anemia was the diagnosis drs gave everyone with widespread pain and the eventual inability to walk. The only treatment they had was vitamin B-12 injections. Obviously that did not help. The only time she could get in her garden was twice a year when 2 of my great uncles would go visit, get on both sides of her chair and lift her up to carry her out the door and down the stairs. The rest of the year she just looked out her tiny kitchen window to call out instructions to her daughter who would go into the garden to take care of the vegetables and flowers. Can you imagine? Knowing other people's stories helps ease my challenges, at least in my mind if not my body. Our mind and the stress we carry has very very much to do with our bodily health.
When we are stressed a signal happens deep inside our brain in an area called the amygdala that interacts with another one, the hippocampus. Stress causes the hippocampus to turn on the production of inflammatory cytokine molecules that travel throughout our blood. Where those cytokines end up is where they attack. If there is not a foreign substance like a virus to attack, they attack the healthy cells in that area. That is what an autoimmune disease does. In MS it is typically the brain, in Lupus it is often the organs, in psoriasis it is mostly the skin, in AS it is mostly the spine, and so on. That's why many of us have multiple diagnoses.
Emotional stress, physical stress from overexertion and disease, toxins in our food and environment, past trauma, past illnesses still lurking within, all these things must be addressed and stopped before repair can be affective. That is why it is so hard and takes so long. But if I can do it, anyone else can too. It's just a matter of staying the course, being patient with ourselves, and best of all with this site, learning from and supporting each other. What I share with you and everyone else helps me remain committed to myself. We are all in this together my friend and by God's Grace we will all emerge from it together. Happy Easter Love.
Jan, there is a diagnosis called SLEEP RELATED HYPOVENTILATION. You can check it out. If you have it, the sleep you get may not be adequate to refresh your resources, which adds extra fatigue to the wretched stuff from your disease. Just sayin’
I received this link below, a while back, and reading your post made me think of it. Then earlier today I read another post, similar to yours, on Facebook, and she too had similar issues, so I thought it might be worth looking into, if it hasn't been mentioned yet.
I can relate though, too, as my BFF of 40 yrs has watched me go from good days to horrible ER days and repeatedly says, "the Drs are mssing something with you nervous system"' and a few weeks later I receive this link from a family member who was diagnosed with it...🤔
Hopefully the link will open...
