Thank you for your answer Elaine. Also I tried physical therapy and that only made the pain worse.I changed my main Dr. to a sweet gentleman who seems to care and has set me up with a rheumotologist who I am seeing in December.I have a feeling acupuncture will not be on the list for treatment.

I tried but I had to lay on table for an hour and it just about killed me. Went three times and hurt more afterwards every time. Plus Medicare says they cover but they don't.

Does acupuncture help with cervical spondylitis, and how long does it take to feel pain relief?

Acupuncture may help with cervical spondylitis pain relief. A study of 60 patients with cervical spondylitis found that using acupuncture combined with traction reduced neck pain and improved sleep quality. However, this was a small study.

When looking at broader research on acupuncture for rheumatic diseases, the results for spondylitis specifically were inconclusive. While acupuncture showed effectiveness for lower back pain in some rheumatic conditions, there wasn't clear evidence specifically for spondylitis.

The research doesn't specify how long it takes to feel pain relief from acupuncture. Results likely vary from person to person.

If you're considering acupuncture, make sure to work with an experienced, well-trained practitioner who uses sterile needles. It's important to talk with your rheumatologist first, as acupuncture may interact with your current medications or treatment plan.

Some MySpondylitisTeam members have tried acupuncture as part of their pain management approach, though experiences vary. You might also want to explore other complementary options like heat therapy, physical therapy, or mindfulness techniques that members have found helpful for neck pain.
