I Am Needing Assistance!!! Has Anyone Dealt With Schedule Adjustments At Their Jobs?
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

For YEARS I have struggled to make it to work on time... things have progressed and worsened. Last year my Boss decided that he would "compromise" and I was allowed to be late and not get reprimanded if I did not make up my time. Fast forward to Jan/Feb he pulled me in his office and told me that the agreement still stood but that I was allowed to make up my time. Within a 1-2 weeks I was pulled back in his office and that compromise complete wiped off the table. I am not allowed to be late… read more

@A MySpondylitisTeam Member that sounds like your company doesn't want to accommodate you at all, you could get ahold of the ADA and see if they have any ideas. I don't see how they can't adjust your hours to 8:30am to 5pm with a half hour break?

This!! Exactly how I feel!! I went from Management to this job BECAUSE it’s not demanding in a sense that someone has to pick up my slack when I’m absent… my work is my work and I still manage to do it I just am needing to come in an hr later to let my body adjust before I get to work… making it at 8 like they asked but I’m currently in the bathroom NOT DOING MY JOB because it was/is just to much for my body to handle in such a short period of time in the am… I have to take breaks while getting ready… and I am supposed to do exercises in the am to lessen the fusion or atleast if fusion occurs it isn’t in an off position… I guess as long as I’m in the building 8-5 whether I can do my actual job or not doesn’t matter… but it will LOL soon it will be you take to many breaks or you were in the bathroom to long… I just wanna work lol and I CAN do/handle the work load with adjustments that would allow my body time in the am I was only asking to come in @ 9 instead of 8 and not take a lunch or only a half hr lunch… 🤦🏼‍♀️

Do you have FMLA at work? You need to have your doctor fill out the paperwork which will put you in for an accommodation and help save your job. However you still have to follow policy rules.

Yeah I was NOT expecting that response from previous conversations AT ALL so a bit blind sided by this… just not sure where to go for resources and what not so thought I’d ask here to see if anyone had any input/experience or information that I could pursue.

To be clear my work responded saying their business hours are 8-5. I need to be there @ 8am. I have no option even thru FMLA for a schedule modification.
