Chia Seeds
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Just been reading about Chia seeds ref. Patient.co.uk. These seeds are reported to have many health benefits. The benefit that got my attention was their ability to reduce chronic inflammation by containing antioxidants such as caffeic acid.
So before i throw my Arcoxia away and add these seeds to my breakfast has any one had any experience of them.

@L52 stopping them is a really bad idea. My cousin did that and almost died. Bled out in emergency open heart surgery. Care flighted, multiple stents, whole nine yards. Only way to get off blood pressure meds is if obese and lose weight until blood pressure is normal all the time. If it is caused by something else like damaged arteries getting off them is a bad idea because the bp med dilates the arteries and keeps them open and flexible. If stop them the arteries get stiff. It is a preventative med as well as lowers blood pressure. It really lowers stroke and heart attack risk. Arteries need to flex. It’s not just about the top and bottom BP numbers. I’d like to get off my meds too. Two thyroid meds, and a BP med. But with diabetes and avoiding diabetes meds quitting my bp for me would be sure death, I’m way overweight tho.

If you need minerals eat walnuts and a few regular nuts of various kinds but the fat will blow you calories out of the water.

I don’t think they are a superfood. They contain a lot of minerals if consumed in large amounts but if do that then gonna have bloat from excess fiber etc. If have just 1/4 teaspoon or half a teaspoon once a day on something it isn’t a super food at all.
