Hi Tanya
I tried a firm mattress and not good. Should never have been sold it said a salesman from another store. The advice he gave me was to lay flat on my back on the mattress and I should just about get my hand in the small of my back so that my body was being completely supported evenly which makes sense. I too sleep on my side and also at the time i had crush fracture on 3 lumber vertebrae due to osteoporosis and lifting a heavy weight. The mattress i have is a softer one and also has a memory foam topper. Works a treat. I was on holiday recently and the bed was very hard and although OK but I really appreciated my bed when i returned. I tried many mattresses in different store before i settled on the one i have.

@A MySpondylitisTeam Member, it's whatever gives you the most relief. I sleep on a pillow top bed that's soft. I'm a side sleeper as well.
