Hello I'm shanica from Dallas tx I was just diagnosed with AS it's a horrible disease very painful most of the time stiffness in my back headaches loss of appetite stomach pain IBS issues I could go on and on
Hi Shanica, aside from taking NSAIDs and biologics, getting exercise in the water gives me the most relief and can calm a flare coming on. Being able to move in the water loosens my tendons, muscles and joints and cools off the inflammation. Even just walking in shallow water is helpful.
As for cost of biologics, I am on my second biologic, and both brands offered copay assistance or covered the meds almost 100%. Something to check out or ask your rheumatologist about.
Sending positive thoughts your way 😊
Shanica, I’ve been recently diagnosed too. I work in family medicine- and many of my patients are on biologics and have never had adverse effects. So I feel very comfortable taking one. I’m just hoping it provides relief for me- and you!- quickly!
Prednisone during a flare helped, but I hate the side effects. The only dude effects I've noticed from remicade has been dry mouth and mild hair thinning. I too have copay assistance that takes a lot of cost off.
Hello, Shanica. We know what you are going through. You are with friends in our group. We keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
