I had a double lumbar fusion in 2012. It did help my sciatica pain for many years but it eventually came back. The surgery did nothing for my back pain. The recovery was terribly painful but I have Fibromyalgia as well. No one told me that i would have to learn to walk again. Surgery also caused damage to my bladder so I deal with leaking and difficulty urinating. I’ve been diagnosed with FBS - Failed Back Surgery.
Fast forward 10 yrs and they want to do more fusions. Apparently this is pretty common since the fusion put strain on the discs above and below the fused discs. For me, I won’t do it again - sorry.
