Mine is set to cost $0 I have a copay of $40 but you apply for a discount which someone should have told you about. Enbrel is like $8000 or more per shot and you take a shot weekly. Pretty much no one can afford that if they actually had to pay it

My doctor wants me to take Humira but I can’t afford it. Was $2,000.00 month but with assistance lowered my out of pocket amount to $1,200 which I still can’t afford. This is with Medicare and a supplement plan. How are people affording Humira and or Embrel?

They should have a card that puts money on it that allows you to use as your copay, normally your dr will get that started for you. I chose not to take the Enbrel injections as I work in the hospital with sick patients and you’re not supposed to be around sick people…. I’m doing great at this time … my issues have seemed to have just gone away for now …. Last was in March with a bad swollen wrist and hand and now it’s July and I’ve had no issues going on 4 months as to it was something every week for over a year! I took 3 Motrin and then 3 more 6 hours later when any part of my body was acting up and that seemed to tone it down.. but with that said I did not need it every day. I have a cousin that takes Enbrel and he says it’s helped him tremendously. He took an early retirement at age 55 Said days he couldn’t even bend to put his shoes on but now he can.

Hi @A MySpondylitisTeam Member. I’m in process of being approved for Enbrel since it’s $2200 copay with Medicare supplement! Obviously most cannot afford it.

Please keep me posted on how Enbrel specifically works for you. I’ve heard several folks that I know give raving feedback like “it’s miracle drug”, “can’t live without it” etc. I hope you have the same experience and get some relief!

I’ve been hesitant too but if the financial part doesn’t get approved then I fired it’s not an issue since I won’t be able to afford that kind of money. 😉

I have taken Humera and was switched to Embrel and then Cimzia after I built up tolerance to each of them. They all worked until the tolerance made them ineffective. Then tried Xeljanz and then Rinvoq which gave me gastrointestinal issues. I am currently using Cosentix which is working fine. Many times you have to work your way up the ladder of medications to satisfy insurance companies.
