HI my AS warriors! I was just wondering if any of my friends here have lost your height...? I have been 6'2" since the 8th grade & always had good posture!! Now...? I am barely 4'9" tall...!!! My neck is fused & it is so very painful. I cn't see where I am going when walking, which can be very interesting ~LOL! I do my best & count each day as a blessing!! Somedays are easier than others, but ... they all suck lately. I hope y'all have a great night!!!πŸ€”

Members shared their experiences with height loss related to ankylosing spondylitis, with dramatic changes ranging from two inches to an astonishing loss of over a foot in one member's case, often accompanied by neck fusion, limited mobility, postural changes, and chronic pain. Several members described the connection between AS and osteoporosis as a contributing factor to height loss, with practical suggestions including learning about the vagus nerve and using therapeutic devices to manage neck pain, though many acknowledged that pain remains a constant companion. A recurring theme was the emotional toll of physical changes, from self-consciousness about appearance to the challenge of maintaining a positive outlook, met with deep gratitude for the understanding and support of fellow warriors who truly get it.

Hi, I have lost an inch over this past year. I am not exactly tall but I do worry about these types of symptoms.

I have lost 2 1/2” in height. It magically does not take 10 lbs away and I am getting quite square in middle.

I was always 5'6" and now I am just under 5'4" and I have osteoporosis that comes with my AS. My neck pain is quite painful but I have learned about the Vagus Nerve & I bought a sparker & I hit where it is sore & it helps the pain. I learned it from Cheryl Townsley of Lifestyle for Health.

Thanx for the info Laurence, I already know that tho! I've been dealing with this since before 1989. I dn't have Osteoporosis, glad to say!! I am careful of my weight, as any extra wld compromise my lungs. I've learned to live with this pretty well & try to keep a positive outlook!!! Somedays are harder than others. Hope you're having a painfree weekend:) Enjoy...😊
