I applied for social security disability and was approved the first time. I applied in 2015 and it took about 7 months. I was 53 at that time. I believe two factors played a significant role in my disability being approved quickly and without them needing any additional information after I submitted all the required documents. I've been with the same insurance carrier over 20 years so my medical records show a chronological progression of the disease. The other is I used a law firm specializing in SSDI. They guided me through the process step by step.
I would rather complain about getting up and going to work like everyone who currently works. I would rather walk than use a cane and and an electric scooter. I hate it when able bodied people say "I love your scooter, I need one". My response, "give me your body and you can have the damn scooter because I would rather walk. I don't know why people think you are just joy riding. I get this stupid comment all the time. Good luck to all of you who seek SSDI.

I'm 37 and thinking about signing up for disability. I use a walker and cane. My pass jobs have been housekeeping and retail customer service and meat packing company Cloverdale meats. I have tendonitis and both hands because of Cloverdale meats I started with severe back pain because of working overnights as a stalking associate and they had me in a tiny space with 70 to 80 lb boxes of jeans. I found out I had scoliosis when I was in the fifth grade. I now have degenerative disease and osteoporosis and both of my hips. I am kind of worried that I'm going to get denied because I'm 37 and it seems a lot of you are like in your 50s or 60s and might have a more better chance. I would try to go work for Walmart again and be a door greeter but Walmart has never treated their employees that great. My back is literally ruined from that place and they gave me a hard time and sent me to one of their specialists that was a bad doctor. I worked three jobs in my early twenties so that I can do and make rent in my own apartment. I was homeless when I was 18 and moved back to my home state at 19 and a month later I had my own one bedroom apartment. So my ligaments and tendons are not working right I've had heated knees since I was 10 years old and no doctor could find out anything wrong with me until I was 37. I'm a tiny petite girl that likes to work hard but my body will not allow it it makes me very depressed. I have no idea what to do because the work I like to do I can't even do because of the way my body is. I hope you old ladies here don't judge me by how young I am and what I'm thinking about because I worked my tail off when I was young and I'm a have a very petite figure and I'm very very short and I was told that that what happens to women who are petite and tiny boned like me they end up with all these problems and I'm not even sure if that's true or not anyways I'll stop talking now.

I got disability after an appeal. It took 2 years about and was paid retro actively to the day you applied. It can work. I've been making knives to get a supplemental income but I can't stay on my feet long. It's also a lot of work! At least I love doing it.
