I haven't had a pump in about 20 years. Only needed to heal from child birth and my boys are 23 and 21 now.
I do take Hydromorphone pills.
As I remember the pump was morphine and controlled completely. Morphine is great but limited. You will still feel pain, just happier to deal with it.
Good cannabis does better job without addiction.
Can't drink at all on pump and better ask local DMV about driving ( I'm in Toronto).
I like the pill combo that I take ever 7 hours. Allows me control.
I'm allowed:
4mg Hydromorphone
30mg codeine
5mg PERC ( I half it or often not take)
300 mg gabapentin
25 mg indomethacin ( very strong antiinflammatories that actually work on spines, in 40years I have tried them all).
Tecta for tummy.

I only started pain meds in 2017 and happy!!!

Give it some time. You deserve to enjoy some extra help to be pain free.
