Sudden Onset Of Extreme Pain
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I’m new here so please bear with me. 3 days ago I was feeling good and went outside to do some light cleanup. After a couple of hours I sat down to take a rest and BOOM- I felt like I was hit by a truck! I suddenly had all my normal spots on fire plus others - low back, hip, knee, neck, shoulder, wrist, hands, fingers, toes, rib cage. Even my skin hurt in places when I touched it. I had one of the worst headaches ever. Felt dizzy, off balance, and a little nauseous. Slept all afternoon… read more

Do you ever wish to get some kind of answers when you go to your Dr? Well I'm wishing right now, just wish this invisible to the normal person's eye disease could feel my pain! See how fast they get real help, that's if they don't jump!

KevinFranklin!
How true!! Your statement," The Fight to stay moving is very real!" People that haven't experienced a bad day flare up just don't understand😢
I am lucky in some respects🙏 I have the latitude to come and go on my own schedule😁 and, it isn't unusual for me to stay home and go nowhere for days at a time. Other times, I will be out in my gardens, or mowing, or in my studio.
Those flare up days, music and books are my best friends!(and my prescribed pain medications)
Thanks for your post

Look at the post on here about triggers, you will need to pay attention and learn what causes you to Flare up. For me, I have to pay close attention to how my joints feel before I start any type of movement. I know the signs of a flare up, if I feel a flare coming I do not do anything but very basic activities or I will pay for it severely. But what you describe is my dailey problems. The older you get the more joint damage you will have, so be prepared mentally as much as you can, the fight to stay moving is very real.

I have not been on here much lately and DavidDykoschack thank you for your kind words. I know working is difficult and one reason I am still working is because in a year and a half I will make 25 years at my job and will get to keep my medical insurance for life. It is a great motivator. With the cost of the medications I take it would be impossible to pay for them. I am in the office most of the time now and I do feel, some days I would like to retire now but I do really like my job. The commute is an hour each way but it is a straight highway and I enjoy thinking and listening to my music.
My primary doctor has been very supportive and helpful, he gives me a script for hydrocodone and with out it I don’t think I could work or do much at all. He is always worried about whether he is doing the right treatment along with the rheumatologist giving Biologic and Otezla. He referred me to a pain management doctor who went over my records and agreed that in my case with all of the pain and areas that hurt, diagnosis that my doctor is doing the best he can to help me function and have less pain. I think authorizing agencies that think pain medication is wrong and dangerous should try living with the pain that all of us have, they would be less likely to think of us as pill seekers.
