I Am Wondering If Spondylitis Causes Pain Throughout Spine?
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am wondering if spondylitis causes pain throughout spine. I have trouble in neck, between shoulder blades, just above hips, and lower back. I also have arthritis in ribs and sternum and sometimes develop some mean costochondritis pain. I dont know if its all on account of spondylitis.

I don't get the pain around my ribs all the time just occasionally, feels like I've been squeezed tightly. I also have a floating rib on my left side at the bottom of my rib cage, curtesy of my ex husband who punched me and broke my rib, it's never really healed properly and often gives me pain. I am limited to wearing a particular style of bra and can't wear anything without a band round the bottom, the ones with just wires dig into my ribs and are uncomfortable. Long line ones are the best but not easy to get hold of, be very glad when they come back into fashion. Some days I have to wear really loose clothing cos I hurt so much.

Spondylitis can cause pain all up and down along the spine as well as the knees, feet, and ribs. It generally starts in the low back and radiates outward, but it can be different for everyone. I have pain in my low back, SI joints and every now and then my knees and ribs.

I believe inflammation is part of the problem but changing what you eat will not fix your spinal injuries or osteoarthritis it might help with the swelling but it won’t take away the pain arthritis hurts swollen or not
Watching what you can help how ever it’s not going to take away tears of joint damage ask a doctor there is no cure for what we have but I do who’s it was that simple

It can but please get referral to cardiologist as many with these conditions always get told it’s costochondritis, as well as myself, and found on ekg before spinal surgery not long ago I have had a heart attack sometime and don’t know when as I was told several times I had costo. Please get checked to make sure
