Palpitations, Fluttering In Chest And Throat Plus Missing Heartbeats
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi all,
I have to have a 24 hr heart monitor fitted to see what is going on with my heart. I have had AS for around 20 years now and these symptoms started about 2 months ago.

Has anyone else experienced this and was it linked to your AS?

Thanks xx

Yes. Could very well be. But you will need a complete heart work up. And it could possibly be a blockage. But you really want know to you have a heart check. I was doing that in 2012. I did have a 45% block in a vein in THE back of my heart. But I was also diagnosed with sperventricular heart rhythms. Sounds bad. But it want kill you. Just makes you feel like your going to die. But it caused by severe anxiety. GOD BLESS you. I hope you find out answers soon.💓🙏🙏

I suffer from severe chest pains as well, my doctor says it's part of the symptoms. We may feel like we're having a heart attack but, we are not. I tried doing some breathing exercises and they work and meditating as well.

I was diagnosised with sperventricular episodes. After I was officially diagnosed in 2012. But it's not dangerous. It is debilitating. It feels just like the worst panic attach you can have. It want kill you. But it sure makes like you feel luke you are. It's due to the sever pain, stress. Your family not being their for you. And deep depression. But I never had any pains in my chest, or up and down my arms. But you will need to have a heart work up to make sure what's going on. I hope you have excess to a good cardiologist.GOD BLESS YOU. This DISEASE is terrible.💓🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Yes, I began seeing a cardiologist 2 year's ago because of the fluttering and sometimes occasional pain of my chest, no heart attacks though! Had chemically induced stress test (because of my severe back problems, no physical stress test was allowed)and it was no fun! Radioactive material was pumped into me and my heart rate increased for a period of time. I passed. Only thing they could figure after stress test, electrocardiogram, ultrasound, and a few other tests, it was found to be because of either hereditary issues and or the spondy's I am diagnosed with.

My heart does the same thing. I have had a complete heart work up including a heart cath to check for blockages. I got the all clear from my cardiologist. I do suffer from anxiety and my rheumatologist says that the palpitations just stem from the ankylosis spondylitis. I try deep breathing and staying relaxed as much as possible. I pray you find relief.
