Who Here Has Had Cortisone Shots Or Injections? And Have You Seen The Recent Medical Study Results On The Damage It Causes?
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Reading an article today the the medical society put out about the cortisone shots and or injections people have had that actually cause more damage than good. I know I've had them before and complained to my then doctor whom I fired and he said it was all in my head! I guess it would appear I was correct! Luckily I got his pompous ass fired. Please google it and read up on it if you've ever had any cortisone shots or injections in any joints on your body.

@A MySpondylitisTeam Member that's about how it went for me. Now besides the scar tissue from so many injections and nerve ablation's in same area's I read an article saying that the cortisone shots over time actually assist in degrading any joints it was used on and it actually speeds up the process if degradation! No more cortisone for me! Why were they even allowed to use it if it wasn't properly studied long term in the first place is my question. All too often we listen to our doctors advice and trust in the fact that because they are our trained doctors and then these thing's keep happening! Or how about the great opiate crisis/problem? Oh yes these are just fine! Use them, then when found out 30 year's later the whole time the pharmaceutical companies knew they were extremely addictive for most of the population using them, and then the doctors blame it on the patients! Unreal, one just can't make this stuff up! Then on top of it instead of leaving long term patients on it (because let's face it nothing else much works for most people) they stop prescribing them instantly! So, now the people that they(the almighty doctors - yes that's sarcasm)got addicted to these drug's have no choice but to commit suicide (because of the chronic extreme pain, and current addiction to the meds our so called medical community prescribed them)or turn to the illegal street drug's! And they blame the patients yet again! They should be jailed! As if you or I did this we would be! Then the government Sue's them and none of that money goes to actually help any of the true victims! Everyone fills their pockets with money, the problem actually becomes worse! And no one gets any help at all, instead we get condemned and treated in a condescending manner! Unreal!

Sorry, all done ranting. But! If anyone think's any different please educate and enlighten me by all means!

Wishing everyone on this site a well day and better tomorrow!

To Susan Caldwell ....In ref to having a foley for 6 months after your surgery.....sometimes when they do back surgery you can have some nerve damage to the urinary tract or the bowels. Sometimes it clears with time and sometimes it doesn't. You were lucky it only took 6 months to clear and I don't blame you for not wanting another surgery after that. I am a physical rehab nurse and I see a lot of patients that can not urinate after having back surgery.
Hope you get to feeling better soon.

I did injections for about 6 months and all they did was make everything worse. It took me about 2 years to recover. I recently moved to another state and now I have to start all over again 😭😭. What do I do, my new doctor wants to do injections and I don't want to ? Are there any alternatives to injections ?

The doctor who gave me a whole mass of these injections in my shoulder never told me me I should only have three, never told me to totally rest the joint for at least six weeks, never sent me after a set period for an m.r,I. scan prior to an operation, finally got himself struck off and messed me up for over a decade, looking after my dying father back in 2005 I contracted MRSA from the local hospital, am now classified as a carrier with reoccurring staph infections, and I wonder why I now have arthritis just about everywhere with screaming loud tinnitus, thank n.h.s. Uk, you know it makes sense.
