Peripheral Pain & What Kind Of Dr?
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

My days lately have been a mixed bag! My pain in the spine has been pretty well controlled, intermittently. But I'm having new pains in both shoulders & elbows, which I've never experienced before. Now I have spondylitis, I have read that can be common. Anyone else experience peripheral pain? Also, I really dont know who to see about my spondylitis. My PC? Osteoporosis? Or I see allot of people see a rheumatologist? What are your thoughts?

Hi Annie I too have spondylosis in spine and neck. I see a neurologist who is awesome she scraped out alot when I had my fusion in my neck she said they would grow back even had them compressing my spinal cord and yes they have grown back a few anyway it's been since 2010 so bout 9yrs to grow back!!!! I'm not sure what they would do in your case I guess nothing till they start invading things. Good luck to u keep us posted pr me anyway Iam gonna add you if that's ok...

Definitely get a good rheumatologist. And yes I get peripheral pain. I've had steroid shots repeatedly into both hip joints and a shoulder joint for chronic bursitis. I've had to have an injection in a back muscle to stop it from constant painful spasming. I get pain everywhere but the strangest place is in the heels of my feet. I have a great rheumatoligist who sees me as soon as I'm having a problem and knows how to make it better. I can't stress enough the importance of finding a really good rheumy.

I think it would be very helpful to see a Rheumatologist as well.
